dresses dresses and more dresses

I went bridesmaid dress shopping today with my sister. My 3 sisters are my bridesmaids, all being very different people I had thought they would all pick a dress they liked and we would get them in the same colour. As they are paying for the dresses I wanted them to have something they like and would wear again. Early on 2 of my sister found dresses they like. My little sister found this Wayne Copper Dress.

One of my older sisters found this dress from Cue

While we where out I found a dress I loved, turns out that the 3 girls all liked the dress as well so we might have found the dresses 1st time out, that was easier than I thought.

These pictures don't show the colours very well, its is dark blue and dark red. Still have to see if we can find the dress in the right size for my oldest sister, we'll see how we go. Still have the option of getting different dresses.

The bling

This weekend C and I are going out to look at rings. We'll be having them made by the same person that made my engagement ring, but we want to go out and try a few different types on see what looks best. This is the ring C got me, he design and had it made for me and I love it, its perfect and soooooo much more than I ever asked for.

Its a light yellow diamond in the middle and we are thinking of haveong a band of tiny light yellow diamonds for the wedding band, but need to go try some different options on and figure out what we can afford.

centre piece

These are the kind of vase and bowls I want to use with a few clear ones as well. I love these colours and the variations in the red and the blue. don't want everything matching matching.

Image from dinosaur designs

Dinosaur designs a little too expensive for me so I'm looking into DIY, they aren't likely to look as great as this but they will be a lot cheaper and it will be a nice touch something made by me. May need to get this DIY project started.

Photo Blog

A work friend of mine started a photo blog meat-cleavers.blogspot.com, a iphone photo everyday (only had it up and running for 3 days now but 2 nice photos already)

swine flu

A friend I use to work with has been put in quarantine this week, a passenger the same cruise as her got Swine Flu, so they have to be quarantined for 7 day. She's in the paper today talking about it, Margot is famous.

Flowers

As I've mentioned I love a bit of colour so I'm having colourful flowers bouquets, I'm going to go with deep rich moody colours. This bouquet is vintage design company who do amazing things with flowers.

I'm wanting something pretty similar however I'm going to pass on the peonies and as these orchids aren't in seasons I'm going with a specked spider orchid, they are a little bit more alien looking and really different.

The colours will be a bit different - I'll be using Dark purple, burnt red and orange calla lillies, roses will be the same dark red and the orchids are really light yellow with purple dots.

Now comes the hard part finding somewhere that can do this for a reasonable price. I have been considering doing them myself (a friend DIY her wedding flowers, they come out amazing and she offered to help)

random

I like the idea of lots of different random vases and bowls on the table, some with flowers some with candles some by themselves.

I was thinking a mix of clear and coloured glass. I think I like the lightness on glass better ceramic.

Lasting memory

Looking into photographers at the moment, such a hard choice, its a large part of the budget, it a person you need to get along with as you are spending a huge part of the day with them and your trusting the with your lasting memory, memories that you want to really capture the emotion work and fun of the day - no easy task.

I stumbled across www.rocknrollbride.com  showcasing some amazing wedding photos.

Why have One Witness when you can have...

..80

Say this picture today from Derren and Lisa's wedding and thought it was a great way to remember everyone that was there to witness the day and its something that you would look at more than a guest book, especially if you have it on display somewhere. Its also a lot prettier than most marriage certificates I've seen.

Make a statment

This would make a great statement piece and would give me plenty of colour that I want.Dinosaur Designs

Think it might be a bit too much with my dress but I'm sure I could find another occasion it would be perfect for.

I'd eat off it

Saw these guys on a TV show the other day about green furniture, instant love, so beautiful and every piece is unique.
Image from Scrapile
Check these guys Scrapile out the work is amazing and all products are made from recycled scrap wood so its good for the environment.

Colour

I'm going to be wearing white, C and the boys will be wearing gray, and I'm thinking the girls will wear a neutral colour, not the most colourful bunch I know. I do love colour however, so the colour will be in the flowers, decorations, and shoes.

Love it, my dress while be long and you see them most of the time, but since I have to wear shoes I think they should be red.

My dress, his suit

So I said I had the dress, well ordered it at least. Once I get the dress I will be making some changes but this gives you a pretty good idea of what I'm working with.

I'm standing on a huge platform, I'm much shorter than this. I was also thinking of having the skirt straighten, might even have it hug my hips give it that vintage look I love.

And the groom will look dashing in...
1st one he tried on, everyone he put on afterward just didn't look as good. Got the vintage feel we love, its a bit more than just an everyday suit and when they take off the jacket the vest will keep them look different from all the guest. I'm happy.

Done

The save the dates are done, so happy, all I have to do is put them in the mail tomorrow morning.

I wish Mr C was here, 2 more days and he'll be back, can't wait when I wake up on Saturday morning he'll be here.

I have been thinking about a few things...

Like Socks, I know that seems strange but I was sorting socks at the time. Obviously C will need sock for the day, and a few days ago I saw this photo

www.cscottphotography.net

Great isn't it, its from budgetsavvybride.wordpress.com recent wedding and I love it. I thought we would do something like this, but its not really C, I'm lucky is he wears a matching pair of socks at the best of time. So not sure what I'll do

I've also been think about starting my own business, I know Crazy timing, but I like being busy and with C studying I have more free time than usual. And the extra money would come in handy for the honeymoon. I'll have to give it some more thought and maybe talk to a few people, but I think I'm going to start a new business.

running late

I have 6 1/2 months till the wedding and I'm already putting things off, I never thought I'd be the find of person to do that.

Mr C and I have decided we want something fun for our 1st dance. I will cry probably the whole way through the ceremony so I'm determined that the reception will be a lot of dancing and fun. Check out shana and rob 1st dance, I'd love to do something a bit fun.

Going a slightly different route but hopefully still fun we've decided to go with... Not telling its a surprise. Looking forward to it, we are going to need dance lessons, I've found a local studio that does private dance lessons for a reasonable price.

Tomorrow I really really need to print the envelopes.

Save the date

4th December 2009

I know a lot of people don't do Save the Dates but because people need to book accommodation, with December being so busy for everyone I really wanted to do one, and I love stationary. So I've design the STD cards.

Pretty aren't they. I've also done a recommended accommodation list.

My production guy is the best he called a paper company and got them to send out some samples, enough for the cards and list, and I got my envelopes from Square envelope company. I've got the cards and the list printed but I still need to figure out the envelopes. Looking forward to crossing that off my list.

Mr C is away on Business. I hate it when he's gone, so think I'll be keeping myself busy.

very exciting

So during the week a friend of mine got engaged, so exciting, they are really good together and are so happy. So I got a little distracted this week and I haven't done anything wedding related, so this week I'm playing catch ups.

The Venue, Mr C and I decided is on the NSW South Coast at Nowra. So it a mini destination wedding (we are in Sydney), we have having it on a Friday night (much better prices) 4th December 09 and this way people can make a weekend of it.

1st is our ceremony venue, a field by the river, we will use the same venue the next day for a recovery brunch, yet to figure out details on this one need to figure out if we can afford to cater this or if it will be BYO, but I'm really excited about this part of the weekend.

Beautiful isn't it, so I won't need to do much decorating here.

2nd venue The Boatshed, it a restored Boatshed, found these guys by accident, the venue was just what we wanted, when we walked we new it was right.

None of these are how it will be set up on the date but you get the idea.

Where we are so far

So what have I done so far..

Well I got engaged, on a beautiful beach, after a picnic breakfast, while snorkeling - we where looking for buried treasure (well mucking around being silly) and treasure I got, a fiance and a dream ring. Followed by homemade chocolate covered strawberries and my favourite champagne. Than when we finished at the beach we headed home got dressed and hit the town to celebrate with cocktails and dinner.

We've had our engagement party a great night, except for the about hour that it stormed, this being a problem because the party was in the backyard. When the backyard flooded it got a bit stressful. Also a good lesson never plan an outdoor event

I've also found a venue - very hard decision. Ordered a dress, and we have possible found my finances suits pretty good to start.

Hi

I'm not really a blogger 1st time I've ever tried something like this, but now seemed as good at time as any to give it a go.

Small wedding big honeymoon is the choice me and my fiances had to make. The 2 of us would LOVE to travel, but our funds are limited like everyone's so we had to pick, I'm a design I love small details everything fitting together, lots of food wine music, amazing clothing, I'd love to have all of that and more but I we can't. 5 hours verse 5 weeks, made the decision for us, but its not going to be easy, I still want all those things I'm just going to need to do it on a much smaller budget.

So this is be my story of sticking to the budget and a planning our big honeymoon.
