its going to look great

I've come to the conclusion after looking around at lots of flower inspiration its impossible for them to look bad. I mean if you get flowers you like you can't go wrong mix a few different flowers together or get lots of the same and bunch than all together. I admit i do like the loss more informal flowers best but flowers are pretty so its hard to go wrong.

I'm not doing a practice run of mine until closer to the date, so I'm practicing with whats in session for the wedding, but I'm looking forward to it, I think this will be a fun project.

So more inspiration.

Wedding Spiders

I was curious about the availability of some of the flowers I wanted for the wedding so today I stop passed a florist and casually asked. I was told I was dreaming that all the flowers I asked about wouldn't last for a wedding. I'm not sure why she said this, I mean I've seen heaps of flowers from real wedding using these flowers. But my sister was told the same thing, they said tulips wouldn't last the whole day, but they did - they lasted longer than just the wedding day.

But to be on the safe side I've found a few other flowers I like, and when I do my flower test a few weeks before the wedding (much to the discuss of my sister - who think I should just pay and get them done, or know exactly what I'm doing months in advance) I'll get a bunch of different things to try lots of options. I'm flexable, I go with whats good and available

I really like strange flowers, the kind you would see in Sci-fi movies, alien. So I thought Spider mums would be cool.

found on www.flickr.com

all the mums are pretty cool actually, cushion and football, I can just imagine a single giant white football mum coming out of one of the really bright vases, but a bunch like this could be cool too.

Cushions and Button poms come in lots of different colours, which is fun.

Cheering up

A little worn down at the moment, not sleeping very well (hence the late night posts), but these pictured cheered my right up. These flowers are do big and colourful, and they are all picked straight from the garden.

Christmas in July

I'm planning a small Christmas in July celebrate for a few friends and thought this would make a great simple table decoration. A little bit of Christmas but not too much I like it.

Rethinking

I'm rethinking the flowers, as I'll be doing them with the help of 2 friends I'm thinking I should pick something a little less structured, that way if we don't make them perfectly they will still look good.

I jumped online last night to find some inspiration.

I love these flowers I found at www.oncewed.com photo by www.allisongarrett.com

I'd want to replace the pink flowers with something darker or brighter, but its not to overly planned and structures.

Found these on www.oncewed.com

These flowers are really cool and I think they come in a dark red as well - but I have no idea what they are called.

found these at the...

supermarket, so pretty for supermarket flowers. Would look great in a Bouquet - and you'd only need 5 or so as they are so big.

flower options

So I'm still open to other affordable ideas for flowers. I have friends that have offered to DIY them with me, this is probably what I will end up doing but I'm still up for other idea, particularly if it is something that will last longer than fresh flowers. Today I came across these lovely flowers which I could DIY, they are a lot nicer than silk flowers -I hate fake flowers that try too hard to look real, these don't pretend to be real just soft and playful.

But I'm starting to think I have enough DIY project to keep me occupied for a little while, if I get my other projects done and still have time afterwards I might look at these again. I wonder how they would look in the darker/deeper colours I want.

I was given an orchid 4 years ago with a beautiful flower, and for the last 4 years it has had no more flowers until now. I've got 2 flowering and 1 more on its way.

Flowers

As I've mentioned I love a bit of colour so I'm having colourful flowers bouquets, I'm going to go with deep rich moody colours. This bouquet is vintage design company who do amazing things with flowers.

I'm wanting something pretty similar however I'm going to pass on the peonies and as these orchids aren't in seasons I'm going with a specked spider orchid, they are a little bit more alien looking and really different.

The colours will be a bit different - I'll be using Dark purple, burnt red and orange calla lillies, roses will be the same dark red and the orchids are really light yellow with purple dots.

Now comes the hard part finding somewhere that can do this for a reasonable price. I have been considering doing them myself (a friend DIY her wedding flowers, they come out amazing and she offered to help)
